Normally a car audio system have small, low frequency sound producing speakers, which sometimes you won’t be able to make through what actually is being played there. But, this problem is of the past as with the advent of car audio subwoofers, you would be able to add a new depth to your car stereo system. A subwoofer is actually smaller than that of a woofer but can reproduce frequencies below 150 Hz, powerful enough to add a strong bass to your audio system.

Most of the sub woofers are installed in the back of the car, specifically in the trunk region, because of space limitations in the car cabin. Usually, they measure 10 or 12 inches but can even be as small as four inches and as big as thirty four inches. What affects the sound of the car audio subwoofer is its type of enclosure. Basically, there are five different types of enclosures- ported, sealed, bandpass, transmission line system and passive radiator. Amongst all these enclosures, the most practical and the used types is the sealed one as it matches with the audio requirement of a car interior and at the same time requires minimum space than others.
